Call for Volunteers Open

  • 1.  Call for Volunteers Open

    Posted 02-08-2022 11:01

    Fellow RBMA Members,

The annual Call for Volunteers is now open. As RBMA president-elect, I'm personally asking you to take a moment to consider volunteerism with RBMA.  The association is staffed by a small but mighty team of just 8 full-time staff members which makes volunteers integral to the continued success and advancement of RBMA.

Volunteering with RBMA is definitely not one-sided. What I've given in my time, knowledge and ideas, I've received back 10-fold in lifelong connections, career advancement and great friends!

Please take a moment to review the opportunities available for committee service, as well as our microvolunteer opportunities.  If any interest you, follow the links to apply for service. The Call for Volunteers closes on Monday, Feb. 14.

If you have any questions, I invite you to reach out to myself or our staff team at membership@rbma.org

    Thanks for your consideration.

"Volunteering with RBMA is definitely not one-sided. What I've given in my time, knowledge and ideas, I've received back 10-fold in lifelong connections, career advancement and great friends!"

Couldn't agree more Shannon. Volunteering with RBMA has added much needed breadth to my work-life and greatly expanded my network. I would encourage all to consider and look forward to volunteering with you in 2022.

Ditto to all of the previous comments.  We are so fortunate that the RBMA publishes news, interviews, survey data, and provides educational forums to keep us current on issues that impact our industry both nationally and locally...I'm not sure how I could be effective in my role without it.  Taking an active part of those discussions as a volunteer, however, connects you to your peers at a whole new level.  Our committees benefit from your ideas and input, and most only require a small time commitment each month.  It's so rewarding to see your contributions in action, not to mention the friendships you develop with colleagues all across the country.  I'm grateful for my opportunity to participate, and encourage others to do the same!

Echoing some of the previous comments made...

This RBMA community is amazing and the RBMA team – Rock Stars!

Think back to March 2020 – COVID hits, the world turns upside down and as leaders in our industry we are trying to navigate the situation.

How could we have done it without RBMA?!?!

This RBMA community shared common experiences as we watched the crisis unfold.  We helped each other understand and navigate the Families First Corona Virus Act, CARES Act, CMS Advanced Payment Program and HHS Stimulus money.  As things were moving so quickly, no one had the luxury of time to become a subject matter expert on all topics, but through forums and the weekly panel discussions (aka RBMA Radio Show... "A Word with Bob") we all shared what we knew which allowed us to collectively put the pieces together to make the right decisions for our practices.

I feel so fortunate to have been actively engaged in the RBMA Board and the various committees during this unprecedented/historical time.

Join me!  Volunteering for an RBMA Committee is time well spent for you personally, professionally as well as your practice!

Call for Volunteers Extended to Friday, Feb. 18 - Volunteer Today!
We need your talent and expertise! Share your knowledge with RBMA by serving as a committee volunteer or micro volunteer! By volunteering with RBMA you will meet new people and grow your understanding of the industry. At the same time, you will have a real impact on our organization and those we serve.

Volunteer for a Committee: RBMA is soliciting volunteers to serve on a variety of committees and subcommittees for the 2022-2023 Association year (May 2022 - April 2023). Much of the important work of RBMA is carried out by member volunteers serving on committees and subcommittees, supported by RBMA staff. Committee volunteer applications are due by Feb. 18, 2022.

Click here to volunteer for a committee >>

Micro volunteer: Micro volunteer opportunities are for an abbreviated time and include annual meeting greeter, awards judging, chapter volunteering, or educational workgroups. Micro volunteer opportunities are always open; however, some occur once annually.

Good Morning Shannon and fellow RBMA Members,

I have been a member of RBMA for approximately 20 years and now have the privilege of lifetime membership status as I go into retirement. My membership in RBMA has played a huge part of my overall career success. I have served on the BOD and numerous committees over the years. Volunteering in the association has provided me with education, networking, knowledge, growth, opportunities, and lifetime friendships. It has helped me be a better radiology administrator and ultimately more valuable to the radiologists that I served.
When I walked into the general assembly meeting room at the most recent Las Vegas RBMA Paradigm I commented to one of my lifetime friends of all the new (and younger) faces I saw in the room. It was invigorating to see the participation of shown by all. I would like to encourage all of you who are now in radiology management at any level to consider volunteering on one of the associations committees. Get involved,  make new friends from around the country, learn from others more experienced than yourselves, share what you know with others that are now learning what you learned. Help make the association and industry better as only you can! Your active involvement in RBMA will provide you with a lifetime of success and happiness.

    Best Regards,
    Steve

I love reading these messages about how RBMA and volunteering has enhanced your careers and relationships, keep them coming!

Thank you Janet and Steve for sharing.

It is so interesting to hear how people became engaged with RBMA and the effects it has had on them and their careers. I 100% would not be where I am today without my RBMA family so thank you.

Although I haven't volunteered on a big scale, I have really enjoyed being a committee member and serving on multiple committees over the last 10+ years.  The opportunity to meet new people and learn about them and their practices has been beneficial in guiding me in my own sphere.  I love the "micro" opportunities that RBMA now has for volunteers – short and sweet to get your feet wet!

Volunteering with the RBMA has been truly gratifying and I most certainly have received more back than what I put in. The relationships I have developed are lasting a lifetime and I will treasure the experiences forever. Don't pass up on the opportunity to engage!

I'd encourage anyone to volunteer with RBMA!  For those of you who think you are too new, or haven't been around long enough- that's nonsense!  Jump on in and get started!  For those of you who have been around for ages and never volunteered- now is your chance to use your experience and knowledge to make our programming even better.
Volunteering with RBMA has helped me so much with professional growth and development, and I will forever be grateful for the chance to be a part of this organization.  As a committee member and committee chair (marketing), I can tell you firsthand-  we always need good volunteers!  We need fresh thoughts, ideas, commitments, etc.  in order to keep our programs exciting and beneficial.
Please consider an opportunity to volunteer!

I have been volunteering with RBMA for many years now.  It is so rewarding to give back and I have made many friends and colleagues that I would not otherwise have met.  I currently serve on both the Program Education Subcommittee as co-chair and the Virtual Education Subcommittee.   RBMA gave so much to me early in my career and now it is my turn to give back to the next generation of RBMA leaders.  Give it a try, you won't regret it.

Volunteering is one of the most satisfying things you can do.  It's an effective way to stay engaged in your profession and it will allow you to learn more than you thought possible!  You don't need to be a subject matter expert to volunteer- just a desire to become better and share your experiences with others.  The small investment in time will yield great dividends for both yourself as well as your fellow RBMA members.  If you haven't been approached personally about volunteering, consider this your invitation.
