Many, many issues with MRI pre-auths

OK - referring physicians are doing 'tele-health' visits.

ALL THESE PRESCRIPTIONS for an MRI are DENIED.

From what I've observed - from many insurers - the patient needs to be seen in the referring physician's office or we cannot be reimbursed.

    --------------------

Some insurers will authorize, but now we must jump through even more hoops by providing:

    - Complete patient history
    - Current list of prescribed medications
    - Full documentation of tele-health consult.

    -------------------

So, am I correct in that the referring physician receives compensation equal to a full office visit and we are left doing EXTRA WORK.

Shouldn't less cost and possibly time on the referring physician's part be eligible for appropriate payment for al 'lesser' service that in the
aggregate is only causing delays in patient care and unreimbursed costs to us, the imaging center to assist referring physician and patient alike?

    -------------------------

    HOW LOW CAN REIMBURSEMENTS GO?

HOW MUCH MORE PAPERWORK MUST WE WADE THROUGH AT NO APPROPRIATE COMPENSATION FOR THIS TIME?

    -------------------

I may be preaching to the choir here, but how can we continue to be at least minimally profitable with these additional burdens placed on us?

We must Hang Together or Hang Separately!
