  • 1.  CT Lung Cancer Screening and the new USPSTF guidelines

    Posted 03-10-2021 13:48
    Hi everyone,

I am interested to know if any of you will begin scheduling patients utilizing the new USPSTF guidelines and when you might think the payers will adjust their policies?  Will you be waiting for the payers to adjust their age limit to 50 from 55 and smoked at least a pack a day for 20 years or more, and who still smoke or have quit within the past 15 years before you start seeing these patients?

    Thank you for your input

    Hi Christie –

My email was blowing up yesterday over the same questions J

For now....we are scripting responses for patients and providers who ask about this criteria, but we are not yet adopting because we don't know where payers stand.

Basically, we're letting all know we are excited about the new guidelines, and in the process of getting clarity on coverage. Until then, we're not scheduling appointments under this criteria but are considering wait listing patients who fall into this category.

Hopefully updated policies will come out soon!
