  • 1.  Interpreting Breast Ultrasound from PC office.

    All,

What is your policy concerning primary care physicians performing Breast Ultrasounds, then pushing to PACS for interpretation? We have raised concerns about quality control and breast exam tracking.

Does your office accept breast imaging for interpretation, and why?

We do not do any outside interpretations for diagnostic breast ultrasound.  Currently all diagnostic US get worked up at our Imaging Center where there is direct availability of a radiologist and interpreted at time of service.  We do not do screening breast Ultrasound.  Just a philosophy to keep the quality of our breast imaging very high.  We read for several offices that perform their own mammograms but we only allow them to do screenings and we don't allow them to do ultrasound.
