    Hello,

We have a group of 12 hospital based radiologist.  Currently we reports MIPS on Medicare Claims Part B.
Our IR doctor wants to know if they can ALSO report on a registry at the same time?  If I'm understanding him correctly there are some measures he wants to report on that can only go registry.

Also this same group of doctors are reading at an outpatient imaging center.  The center is owned by the hospital, they bill global and pay the radiologist for the reading.   Should the MIPS for the doctors still be reported on these claims?

    Thank you

    Hi everyone-

I believe that CMS allows providers to use multiple reporting methods to report separate measures. If the providers are reporting individually, then the VIRs can report MIPS measures via claims and use a registry to report QCDR measures.
If the providers report as a group, then the group would need to enroll in the QCDR.

    Hulah,

To allow for and give certain flexibilities to clinicians in small practices, CMS continues to allow small groups (15 or fewer) to submit quality data for covered professional services at both the individual and group level through the Medicare Part B claims submission type for the Quality performance category.

In 2020, individual eligible clinicians could again submit a single measure via multiple collection types (e.g. MIPS CQM, eCQM, QCDR measures and Medicare Part B claims measures) and be scored on the data submission with the greatest number of measure achievement points.

Using multiple submission means is fine as small practices. Small practices may choose to report MIPS quality measures via claims based submission type and also report additional measures via a different submission type and collection type (ie. QCDR for IR registry only measures).

For the second part of your question, are the radiologists that are reading for this hospital owned imaging center credentialed to this site under the same TIN as above? If so, then yes. As long as each individual is MIPS eligible for the 2020 performance year. This information can be found by entering the NPI of each provider into the MIPS participation lookup tool at this site. https://qpp.cms.gov/participation-lookup.
