    Hello,

     

    Can someone tell me what CDS stands for?  Ha! Hopefully that garnered a chuckle... In all seriousness, I am helping a small independent imaging center get ready for CDS Implementation and would love to hear what products and solutions are appropriate for such a site?  Their referral base is disparate and would presumably benefit from electronic ordering as well as the consultation of the CDS in the ordering process.  Seems like a far different challenge as opposed to hospital based implementation of CDS where the products are built into hospital EHR and the referral base is much more captive.

    Michael,

     

    We used Radwise by Sage HMS for a few years.  We were using it internally to collect data, but we also implemented it to be ready for CDS being required in 2016 (The 1st time it was going to be required, or at least the 1st time I knew about it).  The system has a web interface for the clinician to run through the CDS decision tree.  At the end of the process, the clinician then has the option to order the study from your facility by clicking a button.  The order is transmitted via HL7 to your RIS/EMR.

     

    We have closed our imaging center, and don't need the software anymore, so we will not be using it in a real-life setup.

    Michael, like Brian, I had used Radwise by Sage at another group early on to set the stage for CDS so our disparate referring groups would be able to access a web portal to perform the CDS and place an order.   I started with internal use with benchmarking CDS vs. Prior Auth.  Anyways, we ended up partnering with a larger organization that already had plans for CDS and so Sage was put to rest at that site.  I thought it was a great solution.  Let me know if you would like contact information.
