Virtual Group Meetings

  • 1.  Virtual Group Meetings

    Posted 04-14-2020 09:57
Can anyone recommend a good solution for virtual group meetings for larger groups?  Most critical would be the ability to manage it so that one person speaks at a time, and people can virtually raise their hand and be recognized to speak.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

    David:

If you have a Zoom License, not just the free version, it has some of the best Host controls.  Feel free to call me if you want to discuss what those are.

    Zoom is very easy.

Let me know if it works for you and anyone else, who can hold just one doctor to speak at a time (and even better, if they raise their hand before speaking......LOL)

I had a vendor call me using freeconferencecall.com and I was pleased with their system.  It is apple, android and website accessible.  You get one dial in phone number and an access code that never changes.  The free version allows up to 1,000 participants.  You can screen share, video chat .  You can subscribe for a nominal fee to have more options.
Tomorrow, I have a meeting that will have up to 8 people on the call.  I can report back the success or failures of the process.

Here is a link if anyone would like to review: https://www.freeconferencecall.com/fr/refer-a-friend?utm_campaign=CDR&utm_medium=email&utm_source=CDR

Zoom and I think Skye will also. I think Skye is more secure. There have been reports of hackers on Zoom.

I think I would only use Zoom as a last resort for business purposes. It's fine for family happy hour though.

Most of the Zoom issues have been with the free version.  If you have a license, utilize the waiting room option to control who can enter.  Much more secure.

GoToMeeting is another good option for virtual meetings. GTM has audio and video capabilities, you can screen share and delegate screen sharing to any participant. There is also a chat feature and a host of other options. The other really cool feature is the record function. You can record the audio and video from any meeting and you get an email link to your full mtg recording usually within 30 mins of the meeting concluding.

I've used Zoom, GTM, Skype, RingCentral and free conference call and they have their pros / cons. In my experience, GTM and RingCentral and best for true work meetings, Zoom is good for informal meetings, and free conf call is a great free solution for just audio calls with 2+ people.

    My two cents.

...and with Zoom license your participants have passwords to enter the meeting.
