If you pay any sort of financial premium to radiologists working evenings, nights or weekends, can you share details? It would also be helpful to know how the amount was arrived at, if you have that information.
Our rads are essentially paid based on the number of shifts they work. We currently pay a 30% premium for overnight shifts. Evenings are valued the same as a day shift. However, because evening and overnight shifts are shorter than day shifts, the premium is actually about 19% for evenings, and 54% for overnights compared to a standard day shift after the hours are factored in. We don't currently pay any premium for weekend days.
I would also be interested in ideas on the best methodology to determine what the right premium is, based on the appetite for such shifts vs. income in the group.
