Physician segmentation and post processing

  • 1.  Physician segmentation and post processing

I am curious as to how other academic radiology groups are handling billing/wRVU capture for a physician's time in organ segmentation for their departments who request it.

Example:  Our radiologist is requested, by the department of Urology, to create post processing 3D images of a pelvic MRI and segment them for lesions in the prostate.  This work allows the urology surgeon to target the areas of concern in the prostate.

This task performed by our radiologists typically takes 30 minutes but can take more time if this service is requested for the liver.  The MRI has already been billed previously, and billing 76377 does not give the radiologist the work value for his time.

Currently we do not have the adequate fellow staffing to pass this task to them.

    Thank you,
