    ​Hello,

    Curious if hospitals are requiring CDS consults for all advanced imaging regardless of status? One concern brought forward was what happens if an inpatient visit is subsequently downgraded to observation and patient discharged? As an inpatient visit, CDS would not have been required to be consulted. I believe that when the visit is downgraded to observation, then the advanced imaging would have required the CDS consult, which could result in billing issues.

    Our one hospital system that implemented CDS pre-pandemic did so for all patients regardless of status.  Their rationale was that they wanted everyone to have the right study, and no reason to exclude inpatients.
