    Posted 06-08-2020 09:48

The PPP Flexibility Act seems to open up an opportunity to achieve more loan forgiveness for employees earning over $100,000 per year.  With the extension of the Covered Period from 8 to 24 weeks, I would think that would allow forgiveness of up to $46,154 of payroll ($100,000/52x24=$46,154) rather than the cap of $15,385 that was in place for the 8-week period.  Does anyone else see it this way?

    Thanks for your input!

    John

That's been my assumption as well. Opening up to 24 weeks makes forgiveness essentially a non-issue for us.

    Good morning John,

    That's exactly my interpretation.

From my interpretation if we spend at least 75% on those W-2 employees who make less than $100,000.00 then the remaining 25% can be spent on rent, utilities, etc.to help keep our doors open.

It's all in the proper allocation or accounting of funds.

    John,

That's how I interpreted change as well but our accountant has indicated that may not be the case.  Maybe some others members of the forum can check and confirm?

I believe it is still the $15,385...

I don't think we're going to know until the SBA issues guidance based on the new legislation last week.  Until then, it's pure speculation.
