    ​We are a hospital-based radiology practice looking at going to final night reads from a nighthawk company. From those who use nighthawk services, what are your billing practices for these patients? Do you see any differences in Medicare patients vs. commercial insurance patients? Any information will be most appreciated. Thanks.

    All of my radiology practices use NightHawk.  The downside is only that you have to credential the Medicare carrier for each state, i.e. if you are in Virginia and the NightHawk doc is in California, you have to submit to California Medicare because you must submit to the carrier where the read was performed.  We do not see a difference in reimbursement other than with Medicare; sometimes higher, sometimes lower.
