    Good morning all,

I am curious to know what benefits a Physician, working as the practice President, receives in other organizations. Our practice has 4 imaging centers, multiple outside read contracts, one hospital contract, and 13 Radiologists (9 partners and 4 contractors). The only benefit the President of the group receives are 2 administrative days per month to handle the business responsibilities of the job. Otherwise, the President continues to work the same schedule, including call, as the rest of the partners.

Now granted, I handle the vast majority of business responsibility, as I should, but the 2 days of admin time seems like minimal compensation for the job.

Lee, in my current practice there is no benefit at all to being President.  There is not even additional admin days given.  They rotate normal call schedule, etc.  The last practice I was at for a number of years the President got a modest $25k annual stipend so not a lot but there was also no call in the last practice.

Our group does not compensate for President.  We are hospital based and the President just happens to be the Imaging Medical Director at the hospital and  turns in participation hours to the hospital and they provide a stipend.

We run 3 hospitals and two wholly owned imaging centers.

The President gets one extra week of vacation.

And for fun, they get to:

    1. Call me every day
    2. Tar and feather me
    3. Ask me the same questions each day b/c they don't remember what I told them.
    4. Etc. etc etc

We are a small hospital based practice.  Our President/CEO is also the Medical Director, the group voted several years ago that the CEO and CFO receive an additional 2 weeks of vacation per year and first pick of 1 week every 6 months.

Lee - Our practice has 38 providers and is a blend of hospital and imaging center.     President receives 3 admin days a month. $20K year.   President attends a number of health system meetings, has served as chief of staff, and has pretty rigorous non clinical meeting schedule.   Members of our exec committee receive an additional paid day off every quarter.  The president serves on that committee and receives that benefit as well.
