  • 1.  Administrative Time of Shareholders

    ​​Good morning,

    Our practice is currently in the process of re-evaluating how physician shareholders in leadership roles should be compensated for their time and effort.  Can anyone provide feedback on how your roles are compensated - through additional dollars or through time away from the reading room to handle these administrative duties?  Which positions do you provide additional compensation for (if any)?  Do you require a submission of hours in order to be reimbursed?  Any feedback is appreciated!  Thank you,

    We provide dollars to the group President, board members, committee chairs and hospital medical directors.  We also schedule admin time, which counts as work time, as necessary.

    We also pay for attendance at  group and committee meetings.

    We pay for board and committee meeting attendance and provide paid administrative days.  There is also a little bump in bonus pay for those who participate.

    We compensate the President of the corporation via an hourly rate of additional (away from work) time that is spent for corporate business.  For other Directors (medical director to hospital practice)  they receive a monthly stipend. For committee chair and other less time consuming business assignments these positions are rotated yearly and receive no additional compensation.

    Joshua,

    We pay approximately $25,000 annually to our group president.  No other officer is paid. No documentation is needed re: his hours spent.

    We used to pay for attendance at Board meetings.  Then, doctors were asking if they needed to be present the whole time, what if they were sick, what if on vacation but in town, out of town, ______  Finally, we switched back to unpaid attendance.
