If a patient brings her outside images  to a breast surgeon and the surgeon wants the radiologist to read the interpret the images, are there any codes which could be used to bill and be paid for the professional fee? I see 76140, but since there is no Medicare reimbursement, I'm guessing that we would not get paid. Can we bill the mammogram code w/a 26 modifier even if another group has already read and been reimbursed for the interpretation?

    Thank you.

We were told years ago to use the code of the study with a 26 and 77 modifier.
