  • 1.  Mask wearing post CDC announcement

    Good afternoon everyone,

We're debating as a practice whether or not to adopt the new CDC recommendations on mask wearing that were announced last week. Our state, NY, just adopted the new recommendations yesterday and will go into effect tomorrow. However, the state says the new guidelines do not pertain to healthcare facilities while private industry/ business can do whatever they like.

Since we are technically both a healthcare facility and private industry, it has lead to confusion. We operate 4 outpatient imaging centers and only perform diagnostic imaging. I am curious to hear what other private radiology practices that own imaging centers are doing in regard to this topic.

Thanks in advance for the input.

The CDC recommendation is that masks still be worn in healthcare facilities, in which your practice qualifies..... I am recommending that all Imaging Center Clients I work with maintain that guideline.

This is an email I sent to our staff just a week or so ago:

    All:

Regarding the latest CDC release stating fully vaccinated Americans can stop wearing masks, the CDC did not take this away from Medical Facilities or Doctor's offices. RIST will continue to require that all employees, physicians, allied health professionals, visitors and patients wear a mask, socially distance, and practice hand hygiene until further notice.

We will continue to follow our guidelines of asking the patient about Covid history, only the patient allowed in the building, etc.

    Thank you.
