    Good Morning-

I am looking for some help regarding Night Hawk service.

We are a Hospital Based Radiology Group looking into a Night Hawk service for final reads.  Our Radiology group will be contracting with the service.   I know that all the physicians will need to be credentialed with the Hospitals.

Is there a way we can bill for the PC portion of the bill?

Do I need to credential all of the Night Hawk Physicians with our Group in order to bill for Insurance Carriers for the PC portion?  Does this allows me to bill the Appropriate MAC Carrier for Medicare patients? And other Insurance Carriers?

Is this the only way we are able to bill for the Professional Component?

What do other groups do for Nigh Hawk?

Any guidance you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You in advance for your help.

    Kathy

    Hi Kathleen,

For Medicare, you will have to enroll the nighthawk physicians under your tax ID in the state with MAC where the physician is rendering the interpretation. For Commercial Payers, you will need to enroll them under the group's tax ID but you do not need to indicate where the interpretation is rendered. This is the only way the group can bill for the studies that are interpreted by nighthawk providers.
