  • 1.  Mammography Weekend Commitment

    Posted 06-24-2020 16:29

For groups with Breast Imagers that are working 100% in breast imaging, does the group require that Breast Imagers work the same number of weekends as other partners? Are Breast Imagers paid less than radiologists in the group that do work weekends?

Interested in how this is being handled in other areas of the country.

    Sincerely,

    Janet

They do work weekends. They are paid the same.

They take the same number of weekend shifts. However, it's a more flexible.assignment. They can do the 9 hour commitment (includes min. # screenings) whenever they want between Sat/Sun.

Across the group you take a 15% base pay penalty if you do not work weekends. Plus it means you are not full time so you take that hit also.

Our full-time breast imagers have the option to participate in the weekend call rotation, in which case, they would be paid the same as the other call-taking diagnostic radiologists. If they choose not to participate (this is currently the case with our breast imagers), they are paid approximately 25% less for the non-call option. If they volunteer to take a weekend call here and there, they are paid their normal salary for these shifts.
