  • 1.  Night Radiology Service

    Posted 07-14-2022 14:37

Does anyone have a recommendation for a dependable night radiology service? Our current provider is struggling with staffing issues and having trouble providing much more than reads on stroke cases. I understand their situation but the hospital is waking our partners up regularly as a result.

I know things are tight these days and even some of the previously recommended companies now are closed to new customers. Does anyone have, or know of, a dependable provider who will take a new customer?

Feel free to reply or reach out directly.  Thank you.

Unfortunately, an issue that is all too common these days.

We recently added two new hospitals.  We keep their current overnight service.  This service only provides preliminary read.  Our main service provides final reads.

I'd be interested to know if those having problems locating a service are looking for final or preliminary reads  I find preliminary reads to be inefficient with our rads having to overread the following morning.  But the preliminary read does enable a service to read more exams (no comparisons or detailed report necessary).  When overnight services started we were only able to get preliminary reads.  These services were new and our facilities wanted reports from the local rads only.  Seems the movement over the past few years has been to final reads.  Has this movement reduced the number of exams which overnight services can read?  Lastly, I've never seen much of a difference in cost between preliminary vs. final reads over the years we have used overnight services.

    My thoughts......Chris
