Janene - We used to have this issue, which is a big time sink. We found most of it went away when the hospitals we staff implemented secure chat solutions. The afterhours calls are usually ED or IP cases. We use house supervisor if the ordering clinician isn't logged into the Secure Chat or has service coverage pool. We also use the Nuance Powerscribe urgent result service. (Don't remember its name --- used to be Nuance critical results.) We use that tool to document critical results for TJC, but also it has a call service for urgent/non emergent results most often used for those unexpected findings in OP cases. Lets the rads avoid waiting in phone queues to reach the ordering clinician. Good luck

Subject: Outgoing Call Service for urgent results
My radiologists are spending too much time making outgoing calls to ordering physicians when they have urgent results. Particularly in the evenings and overnight.
I'm looking for a service that our group could employ that will allow a radiologist to call (or text) the service. The service will use a call list that we generate to get the right person on the phone. When they have the person on the phone, then they can connect my physician to the person.
Does such a service exist?? Any recommendations?
I don't want to go through the trouble of employing our own switchboard operators or reading room assistants. I suppose that's the backup solution.
