We are experiencing a rash of extended FMLAs for radiologists.   A couple of these are 12 months in length away from practice.    Has your practice defined a return to work process for radiologists that have been out of the workforce for months?   Do you know if there is any professional society guidance or best practice for return to work.   This may be very individualized, but we know logns expire, and CME has to be maintained, and maybe on return the radiologist can't be assigned to a full shift as they regain their sea legs.

Hoping someone can share their experience and process for the return to work for extended leaves.   Thank you

You may also want to keep in mind that many hospitals and State Medical Boards have pretty specific re-entry criteria when practitioners are out of practice for a year or more.

There is an article entitled "Re-Entry to Clinical Practice" in the latest edition of the "Oregon Medical Board Report" regarding this subject (Edition = Summer 2023, Vol. 135 No 3).
