    Posted 01-29-2020 12:54

    Good Afternoon,

Is anyone able to share any benchmarks specific to the radiology industry for denial percentage, gross collections, write-offs, or any other indicators that are part of the revenue cycle?

I am looking for hospital based information.

    Christy,

The RBMA has the 2018 A/R Survey available for sale which includes the latest metrics for revenue cycle management. It comes out every two years. It may not include everything you are looking for but it a good start. As a member of the RBMA Data Committee which conducts the survey, we are currently evaluating the 2020 survey and content so if you think there are holes in the data, please feel free to reach out to me and let me know what you would like to see moving forward.

What is the price of the 2018 survey to an RBMA member?

Price: $250. If it continues as it has in the past, if you participate in the 2020 survey, you get a free copy.

The bottom-line answer is I don't know. We are discussing revamping the survey to make the results more valuable to the participants. If we revamp, it will push back gathering the data. Once we decide on the new survey format, we then need to gather data from the membership, tabulate it and publish it.  This will take a while even if we keep the old format.

If you need something soon, I would invest in the 2018 data. As a longtime A/R survey nerd, the data doesn't change dramatically from survey to survey. The 2018 data will still be very relevant to your practice.

    Hope this helps.
