    An Open Letter to RBMA Members;

    I am posting this to personally encourage you to support radiology by donating to RADPAC online.  RADPAC can't solicit RBMA members, but there is nothing prohibiting Radiology executives (non-ACR members) from donating to RADPAC.  If you support Radiology, if you earn a living because of radiology, I encourage you to also support RADPAC at any level you are comfortable doing (and encourage the radiologists in your group to do so as well).  I'm making my donation today.

    [I paraphrased much of what follows from an email I received from Ted Burnes, Director of RADPAC.]

    With the general election just four months away, radiology needs to ensure we have the resources necessary to get pro-radiology candidates elected to Congress.  RADPAC is putting a premium on supporting physician candidates who have proven to be radiology-friendly.  Only 6% of Members of Congress have a healthcare background, so getting more physicians in Congress will hopefully produce better healthcare policy-making in the future.  On that note . . .

    One of the exciting reasons to support RADPAC is our effort to get two radiologists elected to Congress. There has never been a radiologist elected to Congress so we are hoping to go from 0 to 2 by this November's election.

    Dr. Steve Ferrara Campaign Update – Dr. Ferrara is an interventional radiologist

    The Republican primary field in Arizona's 9th Congressional District open seat changed dramatically a week after the ballot qualifying deadline in May. Dr. Steve Ferrara's most credible primary opponent withdrew his name from the ballot thus giving Dr. Ferrara's campaign a relatively clear path to victory in the August 28 primary election. In addition to this development, Dr. Ferrara has recently picked up endorsements from both the Arizona Medical Society and the Chandler Chamber of Commerce and he recently received financial support from the American Medical Association. You can learn more on his website: www.ferraraforcongress.com.

    Dr. Steve Sevigny Campaign Update – Dr. Sevigny is a radiologist specializing in musculoskeletal radiology

    Dr. Sevigny is running for Florida's 6th Congressional District open seat. His Democrat primary is August 28. Dr. Sevigny entered the race in January 2018 and has made steady progress with both his campaign's fundraising and voter outreach efforts. Dr. Sevigny recently earned the endorsement of the local International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) union which is an important constituency for his primary race. To learn more about Dr. Sevigny's campaign, visit his website at: www.sevignyforcongress.com

    JACR Article on Political Giving by Radiologists

    Here is a link to a recently published JACR article that examines political giving in radiology. It's a great read that covers the different trends and ways radiologists are engaging financially in the political process.
