    The radiology community lost a giant of a physician and researcher with the passing of Dr. David Levin.  Dr. Levin was a strong supporter of RBMA and produced highly regarded research in the battle against physician self-referral.

    Radiology mourns passing of Dr. David C. Levin
    One of the pioneers of research on health services in radiology, Dr. David C. Levin, died on January 15. Levin was one of the first researchers to investigate issues related to turf battles and inappropriate utilization of imaging services and laid the academic groundwork for legislation that rolled back physician self-referral.

    Thanks for posting this, Bob! The diagnostic imaging industry owes so much to Dr. Levin for his meticulous research on self-referral and his advocacy for quality; and for putting the spotlight on the abuses resuting from self-referral such as overutilization and increased health care costs.
