Hello Wendy,
The deep-night teleradiology companies have suffered for the past 5-7 years, especially the big-box groups. Some states were affected more than others. While there are a few exceptions, most radiology providers struggle to recruit- especially for nights, weekends, and holiday coverage. With increased volumes from EDs and a short supply of radiologists (now it's been said over 11,000 unfilled radiology/teleradiology positions in the US), the situation isn't going to improve anytime soon. While a survey to gain average TATs might be very interesting, from the stories shared by others I encountered and members at RBMA this past May, the TATs you're experiencing mirror many of theirs. Some, even far worse.
A while back, I commented on another's TAT concern caused by their night-coverage service. I've attached a snippet of the thread - perhaps the idea is suitable for your group.
All the best,
Darrin

Subject: Teleradiology TAT's
Hello Forum,
I don't think a RBMA survey has been done on this subject. I am curious what TAT's groups are experiencing with their night teleradiology provider. We are struggling to meet the contracted requirement with our hospital, and our night telerad provider is, on average, well over 2 hour TAT's. We have backup radiologists waking up during the night to read when TAT's exceed safe timeframes, but they are burning out. Just curious if this is the norm out there and if we can get some data to see where we are compared to others.
Thanks in advance.
