Hi Jen,
Our group has been in similar situations with subsets of A/R.
Check with your current collections agency or other agencies in in the practice's geographic area (if an acquisition) to see if they have the legal and regulatory qualifications, and are organizationally capable of performing 3rd party billing. Also check if they are capable and competent to perform regular patient billing (especially taking non-collections inbound calls) for your runoff. I'd also suggest a letter to all patient accounts included in the wind down, so they are informed and educated about this transition. You will want to add or revise your agency agreement(s) with existing collection companies to state their compensation associated with 3rd party billing and patient billing for the wind down.
This has worked well in our experience.
Best of success on this project!
Tim

Subject: Any recommendations for outsourcing AR?
Hi All,
I've been asked to do some research on options for outsourcing AR for the wind down of a subset of existing accounts. If anyone has any experiences, positive or negative, I'd love to hear about them. My email is jmohler@sdil.net.
Thanks in advance for sharing!
Jen
