    When contracting with critical access facilities what  considerations must a practice have related to billing the hospital directly vs payers for professional component work?

    It depends on the overall contractual arrangement with the hospital for all payors, but one potential advantage of billing the critical access hospital directly is that CAHs are reimbursed 115 % of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule amount for professional component services when a physician reassigns billing rights to the CAH.
