  • 1.  E-mail from SBA re EIDL Application

Forum - A couple months ago we applied for, and eventually received, the $10k advance from the SBA EIDL program. I thought it was odd at the time that the process essentially ended after choosing the option to request the $10k advance, and did not continue with information about a loan amount, etc.

Over the weekend we received an email from SBA about creating a portal account and continuing the process of applying for the loan. It does appear to be legitimate so I'm not concerned on that front. After creating a portal account I do not see any option that boils down to "we're not applying for the loan" and I suspect I just need to do nothing at this point.

Has anyone else dealt with this same situation? How have you decided to proceed?

One of our groups has received loan documents. The amount was for 150,000 and is highly regulated, meaning acceptance would allow extensive auditing. Our group decided to not accept the loan at this time and did not have to do anything to decline, we simply did not sign the loan documents.
Our other group is in the same position you are in, meaning we accepted the initial 10k and received the email for the portal. We have not received any information about the loan other than it is being reviewed. I assume once they have reviewed the initial application I will receive the documents for our approval if we wish to proceed.

    Hope that helps!
