We have some breast surgeons/breast providers asking us to inject steroids into the breast. Below is the protocol
- Assess sonographic area of granulomatous mastitis
- Draw up the steroid mixture (cannot be pre-mixed for us)
- Smaller area: 2mL steroid mixed with bupivacaine
- Larger area: 4mL steroid mixed with bupivacaine to fill 10mL syringe
- Skin and subcutaneous anesthesia with 1% lidocaine
- Inject steroid/bupivacaine mixture into the area of GM
How should this been coded?
