Hello~
Can you please tell me who in your practices calls the patient and tells them that a scan will be denied and give them the options of paying up front and how much that cost will be?
We have had many PET SCANs bump up against this because of Medical Policy's and I am having a difficult time getting our staff to call the patients and tell them this. The main reason is when they have done this in the past the patients are very angry, scared and upset and say things to the staff such as, "Okay, you just want me to die", "you are very cold and I'll just go and die" . These scenarios have just recently been happening as it gets harder and harder to get the PET SCANs paid.
Just curious as to how others are handling this.
