With regard to employing physician who work from home, has anyone created policies around the out of state radiologist?
We know there is different credentialing requirements. This takes resources.
There are also IT set up and support requirements that require practice resources.
I am told from legal, that there are professional service groups that allocate overhead to each shareholders as 1.0 but shareholders who prefer to work from home, are assessed 1 + X for that privilege. X = $20K-$30K in one example.
Also, who funds the coverage if an out of state rad has a technology failure, and is unable to drive in. Is it practice expense, or is there some sort of fee to the rad who lost connectivity other than lost wages for the shift?
Finally, do you require rads from home to have business internet service so they receive advanced scheduling notices for down times? We have radiologists who use their home internet and unless they monitor the internet provider website, they can find themselves without service and then do the mad dash drive to the hospitals.
Any one have policies that address these issues yet?

We are seeing fewer applicants, but not surprising given that there are way more jobs available now than there are candidates coming out of training.
Like Sheila, we are having more requests to work remotely, but in our case most don't expect the same compensation as a partner radiologist sitting at the hospital. Rather, they are willing (for the most part) to trade income for lifestyle.
We did hire several remote readers this year, but none were just out of training. Each practice's needs will ultimately determine how creative they need to get in this seller's market.

Significantly fewer. Want to work remote. Want very high signing bonuses, higher salary, shorter track to partnership, and mainly working in their fellowship subspecialty. This is not a complaint. It's strictly my experience. --

Dear Forum,
Anecdotally, are groups seeing fewer out-of-training applicants?
