    Hello all,

I am wondering, of the private practice groups that contract with and overnight teleradiology company, are there any that share the monthly teleradiology expense with your respective hospital systems?

    Thanks,

We have one hospital who provides us with an annual stipend for teleradiology costs.  They pay us up to a certain amount per year.  We have to provide them with documentation.

    We also have a few:
One that pays the bill directly.
One that has included the fee in with the stipend, like Sheila.

We also work with a telerad group. With their contracts, they have an RVU guarantee arrangement with the hospitals where the hospitals pay the difference between the guarantee and what is collected via professional billing.

I work with 2 groups (both 12-15 radiologists) on the East Coast and both share overnight teleradiology expense with their hospital system.

As a corollary question: do any groups share locum provider expense with their hospital system?

    HI.

Yes.  Absolutely.  I've been consulting with a mid-sized group on their subsidy requests - both DX and IR - and the hospital agreed to our IR request but instead of agreeing to our ask on the DX side, will reimburse the group for their teleradiology costs and at expanded hours (i.e., instead of current coverage of say 11 p - 6 a, hospital will reimburse for these costs from say 8 p to 7 a).  This group has current teleradiology vendor provide prelims only but moving to finals next year and hospital will also absorb those additional costs.

    Thanks.

This is a great question to pose Dustin.  I am curious what trends have we seen through the years with other medical specialties?  How have our hospital partners supported other specialties in managing the decrease in providers to cover other specialized services?  Do these trends stand as a template for what a hospital may be willing to bear?
